How to make a crossfade

Thu Nov 20, 2008 10:56 am

Hi all

Kdenlive 0.7 does not have a crossfade transition by default. You have to use a "composite" transition. For a discussion of this, please see this issue: http://www.kdenlive.org/mantis/view.php?id=261

Very short: To get a crossfade transition, either use a luma transition that "looks right", or apply a composite transition, then add a keyframe to the transition at the and set its opacity to 0.

Feel free to chirp in with comments...

I voted for a "crossfade" effect, even if I use "Luma" and it works quite like the old crossfade.

I think that a "crossfade" entry in the transition's list makes things a little clearer for the users migrating from old versions.

I think also that the potentials hidden in the transitions should be explained via documentation.

Agreed! Good thing we always accept new documentation volunteers and have a new documentation system in the works. :)
