Re: Ken Burns Effect

hi

first to say: i'm happy for today cafe irc chat for kdenlive #3!!

sorry maybe i not write fine before topic.. now i write long description and details ok?

so i'm back here for new report for ERROR calculate PAN and ZOOM (effect) and COMPOSITE and AFFINE (transition).
i will explain you step step

i tested: KDENLIVE 15.12.1

-i add image png size 4000x780
-put in track video the file png
- i add effect PAN and ZOOM to png image
- there is parameter of PAN and ZOOM:
i click true size of image png (4000x780), show to big this is ok, alignment to top and left.
the parameter "dimension" there is "percentage" result is 208,33% and L:4000 and H:780....
that strange is percentage (%) is not correct calculate..
why?...

see you try to change from 208,33% to 10% and result L: 192, H:108 but the image is not correct..

why i did said "not correct"?....
then you open GIMP to test scale..
-open the file png 4000x780 and dimension image format, there are parameter and blocked(with chain for relative Y,X) and change unit from PX to PERCENT
and you get number 10% and result 400x78...

then..maybe this is buggy when render out there is not correct SCALING...

i show you screen record.

1 screen record, this is show you there is strange SCALING (like as bad calculate Y,X not correct caused from percent formule) this is made in kdenlive 15.12.1
https://mega.nz/#!L95DyA7R!5rpVp3LHUf-M ... OqwxkF7oDg

2 screen record, this is show you there is OTHER strange of KDENLIVE for SCALING CALCULATE BAD..
https://mega.nz/#!T4YigCya!Td7Zy6aBdM1R ... CqLUbiB8s0

3 other software: openshot does correct SCALING
https://mega.nz/#!7wwWTJrZ!5EjBHgjhe9mG ... oDWpzTynJc

4 other software: Natron does correct SCALING
https://mega.nz/#!apwBBQzD!QHwctmCG24WP ... lWerM8hA_I

if you want my file project or file png or file natron, etc..then ask me ok?

THEN FIRST IMPORTANT:
maybe is not correct calculate in SCALING this is first problem..

THEN LAST or LATER:
for care in stack effect: PAN and ZOOM, stack transition: COMPOSITE, AFFINE
check parameter size original and dimension..is not clear..
this is last problem..later..

this report is long description, please re-read again.. ok?

thank you for cafe #3!!! ;D ;D

It's much more of a learning curve though. Blender is quite complex, especially if you have not had experience in the past with full featured 3D animation programs.

a better way would be to use the VSE.

@farid
hi
for blender VSE, yes i know, how does it work. but blender is good experience and needed time for learn it 'how works it blender vse', so for me is not problem if i use in blender vse.. but i need kdenlive will be correct effect like as professional, why? because i need kdenlive like as ready for true professional NLE for my office job, so i will teach to my students for to learn kdenlive for NLE..

for blender to students is long time because blender is BIG WAY: 3D model, edit 3D, VSE, NODE, UV paint, RIG..too..
kdenlive is ONE WAY..video editing NLE..this is ok for time short to learn..so i need KDENLIVE will be ready to be true professional ok?

so i find : NOT CORRECT CALCULATE to PAN and ZOOM..ITS WRONG FORMULE..needed to check.

i think need add new feature for PAN and ZOOM:
-icon CHAIN for relative with y,x or unblock CHAIN. please not unit of PERCENT or PERCENTAGE
-changeble to unit: PX - PERCENT, CM, MM, INCH,
-scale relative to project size or source file (image, titles, svg, etc)
this example is good?

What god is having units such as pixel, cm, mm, or inch for video? You may want also to consider that there are pixel ratios that aren't 1:1. Separate scaling in X and Y dimensions means that your source clips are not in correct aspect ratio??

Did you notice that the transitions and effects that handle size do have different scale preset buttons, such as scale to original size (as opposed to scale to render frame size), scale to width, scale to height? Also, the size of 100% can be changed according to your needs.

One thing I really don't understand: why are you wanting Kdenlive to behave exactly like some other commercial product? What's the rationale? Copying features verbatim? For teaching commercial software to students without having to buy licenses?

Personally, I prefer Kdenlive to be a tool that gets my projects done in a precise and preferably easy manner. I don't need yet another video editor clone. For instance, I like the clean and simple "effects" architecture of MLT/Kdenlive much over how commercial video editors try to address either grading or photoshop experts.

hi
oh..sorry i'm wrong wrote for inch,cm,..i'm crazy!!!ah ah sorry me.

"One thing I really don't understand: why are you wanting Kdenlive to behave exactly like some other commercial product? What's the rationale? Copying features verbatim? "
i want not to copy other commercial product, then i want kdenlive like as professional tools.

"such as scale to original size (as opposed to scale to render frame size), scale to width, scale to height? "
this is ok but maybe you not look well , did you see my link video?
https://mega.nz/#!T4YigCya!Td7Zy6aBdM1R ... CqLUbiB8s0

the image 4000x780 and you scale that image and not relative with size of project..because there is with PERCET OF SCALE..right?

note: i'm not agry, i use maiuscol letter like as precise information ok?

You may want to use bold script or italic script for emphasizing instead of capitals. Just click on preview to get to the full-blown message editor that supports such typographical features.

I was under the impression that using Ken Burns assumes that the source images are somehow prepared beforehand as otherwise one may get greatly mixed results.
