I am unable to add "fade in from black" to a clip once I cut it.

I have a long clip (3 min), if I add fade in at the begining, the fade in effect works.

If I cut the clip somewhere around 2 min mark, and at the fade to the cut piece (2 min mark).

The desired effect would be for the second cut piece to fade in, but it doesn't.

does that make sense?

basically once a clip is cut, I cannot fade in the second cut slice of it.

Looks like there might be some troubles here. Please file a bug at http://www.kdenlive.org/mantis

Workaround while waiting for bug fix: Add a black image to a track, use a default luma transition to fade from it to your clip.
