Hi to everybody,
I have some problems with kdenlive installed on a notebook with Ubuntu 9.04. It all began when the previous release I was using (think 0.7.5) at a start showed the primary configuration wizard (of course it was not the first start), without recognizing and consequently without opening the last jobs made. I uninstalled that version and installed the 0.7.7 following the instructions reported on this site. Fortunately I have recovered the job made, but now I cannot use the transitions, in fact they do not work in particular with the first trace of the project. I have tried to insert a trace before the first one and use trace 1 and 2 but with no result. I have uninstalled and installed kdenlive again with no result too. This adds to a series of problems had with the previous version: frequent crashes, video effects not manageable, difficult use of transitions... Anyone can help me? Many thanks punz69 |

I am running Lucid Lynx Ubuntu with
-kdenlive 7.7.1 -FFmpeg version SVN-r24036, Copyright (c) 2000-2010 the FFmpeg developers built on Jul 4 2010 06:54:28 with gcc 4.4.3 configuration: --enable-gpl --enable-version3 --enable-nonfree --enable-postproc --enable-pthreads --enable-libfaac --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopencore-amrnb --enable-libopencore-amrwb --enable-libtheora --enable-libx264 --enable-libxvid --enable-x11grab -x264 2:0.100.1659+git57b2e56-1 -mlt (melt) 0.5.6 -frei0r-plugins 1.1.22git20090409+repack-0ubuntu3 and I can post whatever else you wanna know but no transitions work at all. at least not in the project window. I hasve tried wipe, disolve, and composite. I just came from Openshot where tranisitions were working flawlessly but I felt that I was getting better rendered xvid and x264 files from kdenlive then from openshot. I don't understand why but oh well. So if you could please help me troubleshoot why my transitions don't work i'd appreciate it. thanks. |

i wasn't aware of how transitions needed to be applied in kdenlive so it was USER ERROR. sorry, apparently you need to splice the clip where you want the transition, move the second half of the clip to track 2 and slightly overlap it over the track 1, then add your transition to track 1 and it will work. i have used slide, wipe, dissolve and i like them very much. my vids on my youtube channel are turning out very cool and all done with Linux!!!
