I am making a video clip for a friend that is made up of a bunch of pictures. I simple need to know how to add transitions between the pictures... fade, dissolve... etc I have been playing around with the timeline but I can not find how exactly to add the transitions.

See the video tutorials. It works the same as transitions between video clips. Put two pics on two tracks, overlap them slightly, right-click the first one, and choose Add Transition.
