Hi all,

I'm currently getting to grips with Kdenlive 0.7.5 on Ubuntu 9.10 for the purposes of creating a music video. My editing background has been all audio up until now, so while I'm accustomed to the multitrack paradigm there are still a couple of things I'm not quite sure about.

I've got about 15 or 16 concurrent video tracks of roughly the same length all synch'd up and some shorter ones that will be plopped in at a later date as per the attached.

I'd like to be able to switch between the various tracks throughout the duration of the audio - I'm pretty sure that this is possible via video transitions - although I've not fully exhausted by experimentation here. What's confusing me however is how to determine which track takes precedence when there are so many concurrent tracks ie. does the notion of a Master track exist in Kdenlive? When I was (painstakingly) synching the (what felt like hundreds of) video tracks I didn't really think about it much as I was using the 'hide video' option.

Does my project sound feasible, and has anyone attempting similar? I'd be very interested in hearing from anyone who has any ideas, or links to tutorials that can help me out specifically with switching between multiple tracks.

I guess the Mastertrack is always the one on top... which gets in the way of using transitions to switch from one track to another with a lot of tracks stacked on top of each other. Calling a track up front your way looks more like a VJ-approach to me, I can't find a way to do it in Kdenlive, should be an option to disable in-between tracks in the transition window for that I guess...

Anyway if there's a workaround I'm curious about it too :) And in the meantime why not look at this amusing rant on how some video-editors look at such stacked up projects.
