how to auto_mask??

Mon Mar 15, 2010 11:29 am
Hi all,
yesterday I installed Kdenlive 7.7.1 on my xubuntu 9.1 64bit (on a VirtualBox mashine).

Everything looks fine. I tried the auto_mask effect (i use German Version: Blur & hide -> Automatisches Maskieren), because I want to upload car videos to youtube and noone shall see my numberplate.

I don'd know why, but i managed somehow that the numberplate is pixeled and stays hidden in the whole video (the car does not move, the camera moves a bit - so obviously the automask moves a bit, too).

But i don't know how i did it.
I really do not understand how to use automask. The effect-menu is as follows:

Keyframe bearbeiten ("Edit Keyframe")
Größenanpassung (adjust size)
Ausrichten (adjustment or alignment)
Snchronisiere Zeitleisten-Cursor (sync timeline cursor)

Could someone tell me exactly what I have to do to pixelize a moving object and how I control the movement of an automask?

What is a Keyframe? You set in "Keyframe bearbeiten ("Edit Keyframe")" simply the size of the mask and the position, but i think in all frames, not a special Frame with a Key?

Why can you adjust the size in the next menu-point "Größenanpassung (adjust size)", too?

I think "Ausrichten (adjustment or alignment)" affects only the position you set in "Keyframe bearbeiten: Edit Keyframe"...

What means "sync timeline cursor" or "Snchronisiere Zeitleisten-Cursor"??

I hope s.o. can help me. I do really have problems to find tutorials in German or English via google. My French and Spanish is by far too bad :-(

Thank you in advance.
Bye Mojo!

You have to move the red box in the effect stack until the mask is above the numberplate you might also resize it by dragging at the red box's corners and edges. Then disable debug and activate obscure.
Keyframe is explained here in German: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schl%C3%BCsselbildanimation
However in the edit keyframe dialog you can do just the same as by moving the red box. It might be used for exact adjustments.
Resize is for fixed percentaged sizes and align for specific positions.
"sync timeline cursor" is only used in keyframeable effects which auto-mask is not.

I don't think the movement of the mask controllable as there is no possibility to adjust keyframes although the dialog for adjusting size and position is called that way.
