Is it somehow possible to mask a clip in a trapezoid shape, like in attached image (where 3 different videos are running simultaniously)?

As far as I know it is not yet possible.
A polygon mask effect would be a nice feature to have. This would make it possible to select a triangle on the left and the right clip and make it transparent. Displaying 3 clips at once however is possible. You might want to have a look at this recent topic: http://kdenlive.org/forum/side-side-clips If in addition you apply the rotate and shear effect on the left and the right clip it might be possible to simulate the effect seen in your picture. |

I haven't tried it, but it could be possible using the Blue Screen Effect. You could:
- Make an image of a trapezoid minus the first shot. - Put that image over the video and add composite effect. - Render video. - Take the second video and add the first one over top of it and add the Blue Screen Effect. - Choose the color of the trapezoid to be the transparent color. You should now see two videos with a slash between them. - Make another trapezoid image for the third shot and put it over the second render. - Render that video. - Take the third render and put it over the third video and add a Blue Screen effect as before. Again, I haven't tried it, but that is how I would do it. Let me know if that works out for you. Later, Lexen |

Just a quick note: There's no need to render that often. You can import kdenlive projects as clips.

Thats sounds like a feature I have been searching for a while! I have migrated from Adobe Premiere and I was searching for something like nested sequences in Premiere. Looks like there are no sequences at all in Kdenlive but I need to build a film and then take it as one clip and put an effect (or set of effects) on this clip (example Sepia)... And the main point is to be able to change effect parameter for the whole film (change Sepia tone) using one slider but not do it for each piece of the film.

Hi Dmitry,
you can create your movie in one project (let's say myMovie.kdenlive) and then create a new project (e.g. myMoviePostProduction.kdenlive) and import myMovie.kdenlive as a project file. Then you drag the myMovie.kdenlive clip into the timeline and you can apply any effect you like. Since Kdenlive 0.78 it is also possible to apply an effect to a track but this still means, you would have to change the effects more than one time, assuming you are working with more than one track. |

Thanks much!
It is not as flexible as using sequences in Premiere but this is much better than nothing. Since, I have migrated from Win to Ubuntu, I will go with Kdenlive because it looks to be the best video editor I have seen in Linux. |
