Kdenlive version 0.7.7
OS - Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Processor - P4 2Ghz Mem - 1.5 Gb Installed from ppa:sunab/ppa repository I've spent some time making the corrections needed for Kdenlive to work well with Ubuntu's Pulse Audio. Everything seemed ready and I was all set to start editing. As I followed the Quick Start tutorial I noticed that the transitions didn't work as I expected them to. I dinked around with some other transitions and found that very few of them would show up in the project monitor as I stepped through the time line. I then tried rendering a few short clips with transitions. Only one out of 5 worked at all. I have done my best to find a solution in the forum here. The few references I have found about transition problems pointed to this version solving the problem. I could use some help diagnosing what has gone wrong. Thank you for your time. |

Are you using almost always Wipe, Composite, or Dissolve? A lot of the other transitions do not quite work well in the sense of a transition - they come from frei0r plugins and do not always make sense in Kdenlive.

Hey there ddennedy,
I was hoping I would be able to get your help on this. Thank you for replying. The transition I most want is just the cross fade transition. The only transition that seemed to work was Waves. The other transitions that kind of worked was spot light. (I think that was the name of it) Everything else I tried just jumped from the last frame of the first clip to the first frame of the second clip. I tried dissolve and it jumped from one clip to the next with no transition in both the project monitor and after rendering. I don't believe I tried wipe or composite. Should I remove the transitions plug-ins and reinstall them? Is there any trouble shooting I can do to help pin point the error? Thank you for your time and consideration. Namaste |

There is no "cross fade" - Dissolve accomplishes that, and I have never had a problem with it. There is no "Waves," and "softlight" is one of these transitions that comes with frei0r plugin, and is not really a transition as much as it is a special way to blend 2 clips. Are you sure that you have placed clips on separate tracks and overlapped them a little?
