Can Kdenlive display date/time info?

Hi. I'm new to Kdenlive, but I've used several other editors.

I'd like to be able to display the date and time metadata on my rendered video. Kino supports this in the Titler function. Is there any way to do it with Kdenlive? Essentially, I'd like to turn on the date and time for a few seconds on selected clips. I don't mind splitting clips to do it.

Also, is there a "join clips" function? It's kind of cumbersome to have 40 or 50 clips when I could combine them to 5 or 10. And I'd definitely cast my vote for crossfade! I use it all the time and it's pretty awkward right now.

Thanks!

(I did search for both questions with no luck. Sorry if they happen to appear in another thread.)

Do you mean the time when the video was recorded? Such a function does not exist yet.
Do you mean joining several clips in the timeline or into one file? In the timeline you have the ability to group clips.

Yes. I really want to be able to do that, so I guess I'll stick with Kino. Too bad. I'm pretty sure that info was put there to use; after all, current time and date isn't the only way to implement scene change determination.

Of course, old camcorders allowed you to stamp the info right on the image. As it is, it's pretty much pointless unless you're watching it on your camcorder. Pity more programs don't allow users to make use of the data, either as a visual time stamp or as a subtitle.

Yes, thanks. But as I said, I'll go back to Kino. Is there a mailing list for any future releases in case features like time/date display and crossfade are ever added?

Just open a feature request in our bug tracker (kdenlive.org/mantis) about the time/date display thing to keep track of it.

Also see this request:

Now that we have template title clips (http://kdenlive.org/discover/0.7.5) it would be great to add more dynamic strings than "%s.
Perhaps adding %ct would display clip time, %pt would display project time, %fpt would display project time in frames etc.
