I am new to videoediting and I thought I would try the effect of putting a smaller object in a scene. Maybe a fly circling an actor or something.
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04.1 and Kdenlive 0.7.8. I've tried the screen transition and I can get the smaller object into the scene but it is transparent, like an ghostobject :-) I need the smaller object to be clear with full opacity. Any ideas? Thanks in advance |

i think maybe you want the bluescreen and composite effect. there is a youtube guide here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-XmhvpdN40
is the smaller object a photo or a video? if it's a photo, you may need to first encode it to a video file and place it on a green screen. you can do that easily by using the "add color clip", choose the color you want and put that clip on the second track from the top. then put your picture on the track right above that, add a composite transition and then render to whatever you want. then take that video file and use that as your little object you want over your main source video by following the youtube example. good luck and hopefully i understand what you wanted and have helped. if not, sorry. |

Thanks ubuntuaddicted!
Yes, you understood what I wanted and your reply was a big help. The smaller object was a picture and rendering to a videofile made it all work. |

glad i could help someone else for once. i recently got into video editing myself using kdenlive. sanub (provides PPA's for latest stable kdenlive and melt) has been a great help to me as well as ddkennedy. These guys are awesome, and whoever else develops kdenlive and melt. it's probably the most useful/powerful piece of FOSS I've come across and used to date since being on linux which is since 2005.
