Hello everyone. I am a video editor for a very small independent TV station in the US. I have been using Sony Vegas for several years, and I have recently started playing with Kdenlive as a possible alternative, since the only reason I still have a Windows install on my home computer is for Vegas.
Is there a way to transition/crossfade between clips on the same video track? Vegas allows one to overlap the ends of video clips on one track and crossfades between them. I loved about Vegas, as it reduces the number of overall tracks and conserves some screen real estate. I also like the Vegas feature where you can split clips using a keyboard shortcut while using the normal selection tool. Is there a way to set that option as a shortcut in Kdenlive? I did not see it under the configuration menu, but I am not sure if there is some master key config file somewhere. I know you aren't in the business of simply cloning a current NLE, but I was just wondering about a few things. Thanks everyone, and I am looking forward to getting to know this program a little better. |

i am not aware of a way to use a transition on 1 track, they must overlap and i am unaware of how to overlap them in 1 track. if you want to cut a clip exactly where the playback line is in your timeline the shortcut key for that is shift+r (i think???) it says what the razor tool is in one of the pulldown menu's. good luck

This is not possible, but it has been mentioned. I think it might even be represented in the brainstorming forum and/or bug tracker (as feature request).
