alpha fade

Fri Dec 10, 2010 7:17 pm
[kdenlive 0.7.8]

I need `alpha fade in' and `alpha fade out' to be applied as an effect to a title (which is a PNG image with a transparent background), similar to `fade from black' and `fade to black', respectively.

Am I correct that such a feature doesn't exist yet? Any workaround?

Do you perhaps look for the transition «Dissolve»?
Click on the lower left or right edge of a clip to add it (or any other transition).

No, I don't look for a *transition*, I look for an *effect* – as you certainly know,`fade to/from black' is an effect, too. My transition is `composite'; everything else doesn't work or produces unpleasant results. In particular, `dissolve' doesn't produce an overlay of the title over the video stream.

Keyframe the Opacity on the Composite transition.

Thanks, I have missed this feature completely (working just a few days with kdenview). From a conceptional point of view, however, having a filter also would be a nice thing...

There are some frei0r filters to affect the alpha channel - some are very new - and hopefully keyframable (not convenient for me to check at the moment). I have been thinking about adding the option to also affect the alpha to the keyframable brightness.
