I cannot figure out the Slide Transition

Ok, so it's my first couple of days getting to use kdenlive. After over a year of failed attempts at getting it to work reliably on my studio machine, it finally seems to be going well.

But for the life of me I cannot figure out how to get the slide transition to work.

What I want:

- Video 2 slides off to the right and Video 3 slides in behind.
- Then, later, Video 3 slides off to the right and Video 2 slides in behind.
- etc...

** Basically at every scene change, I want the current clip to slide off to the right, with the next clip butted right up against it, sliding in to replace it. I'm using video 2 and video 3 and going back and forth with the clips (I use video 1 & 2 for the titles)

Seems simple, but no matter where I position the slide, or whether I overlap the clips or not, I never get what I want...

Help!!

Here is how to achieve what you want. You need to add 2 transitions, one for each track. In my example, I want to transition from track 3 to track 2.

I put a slide transition on track 3, making the video slide from center to the right. Then, put a second transition on track 2 that will move from the left side to center. The trick is to make the 2nd transition slide with the "black track" (see my red circle around it) which in fact is the lowest track in Kdenlive.

When making a transition in Kdenlive, it will "merge" the track with the transition with the track just below. If you don't change the 2nd transition to apply on "black track", it will apply on the track 3 which already contains a transition, and so our 2nd transition will be "embedded" into the first one, not giving the correct effect. Hope you understand the concept.Image

EDIT: Actually this didn't work for me. After watching more closely, it is actually just sliding onto itself (i.e. the clip changes to the new one, then it slides in over top of itself).

As an aside, it would make most sense from this user's perspective to just be able to drop in one transition between two clips and have it work correctly :)

I consider myself a fairly smart guy, but these transitions are really frustrating me!
