TV Safe Zone

Thu Mar 10, 2011 11:14 am
I found that when I created a DVD of all my videos (This is in Australia for 'PAL' TV ), the edges of my videos were cut off when played in a normal DVD player (Pioneer) on a normal TV (15" LCD). So I wanted to create a safe zone around my video presentations, I have noticed that different TV's have a slightly different safe zone need. This is how I did it.

I have a video file, some photos, a bunch of presentation slides and an audio slide:

I Imported the Video and Photos on Track No 1;
Imported Presentation Slides on Track No 0;
Imported a Black Color Clip on Track No 2 and made it the full length of the video.

Right clicked on the Video File (Track 1) and choose "add Transition/Composite";
Extended the Composite Transition to the full length of the video file and Photos;
In the Transition window (top left), Double LEFT clicked on the red colored box;
In the Frame Geometry pop up window, Entered X 37, Y 25, Width 697, Height 522, and pressed ok;

Right clicked on the first Presentation Slide (Track 0) and choose "add Transition/Composite";
Extended the Composite Transition from the beginning of the first Presentation Slide to the end of the last Presentation Slide, it didn't matter that their were gaps between slides.
In the Transition window (top left), Double LEFT clicked on the red colored box;
In the Frame Geometry pop up window, Entered X 37, Y 25, Width 697, Height 522, and pressed ok;
Above the red colored box is the line: "Type Composite with type Auto";
I Changed "Auto" to "2". (To direct the Composite Transition to make the Black Color Clip my background).
Auto is ok for the video file because it is directly above the black color clip and so automatically worked with it.

I added my audio last and then rendered.
