I'm editing footage shot at a rock concert where a strobe light was used extensively (over the top of full lighting).
This creates 2 problems in my resulting video... 1. The strobe is tiring on the eyes after a while 2. There are frames where half the frame is illuminated by the strobe, whereas half is unstrobed Are there any filters or techniques I can use to ameliorate these annoyances? kind regards Roy PS. Just started using kdenlive after rejecting a couple of alternatives and I'm loving it so far |

Could you upload some sample footage, a few seconds?
A very simple fix would be to just keep the previous frame for the white parts. This could be easily written as a frei0r filter. It would not be perfect, but the flash would be gone. One could do more advanced stuff, but this would hardly be worth the effort. |

A rough cut is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A18MlAwyu4U
The strobe comes on and off throughout, but for example look around 2:26 |

Can you upload some original footage, directly out-of-cam? I can give you an ftp account on my web server if you need one for uploading.

Hm. That's more complicated then. There is no hard transition, and it is not completely white either ... Cannot promise anything here. It will not make it into 0.8, that's for sure. Depending on my own needs and my spare time it might take more or less time ... Tell them to switch off this stupid strobo next time ;)

Thx for looking into it. Much appreciated.
Believe me, if I ever see the lighting guy again he'll be rectally illuminated |
