I'm using and Asus 1000he and everything seems ok except kdenlive will not do transitions. The timeline shows that I have put in the dissolves but when I watch the transitions are not there even after I render the video. Am I doing something wrong or is it just that the Asus is not powerful enough to do the job.

are you applying the transition at the overlap of video track 1 and video track 2? track 1 and track 2 must overlap a tiny bit and you place the transition there at the overlap. silly question I know but we need to start soemwhere. maybe you could post a screen grab of your kdenlive project so we can see what it looks like.

It shows the dissolves on the timeline but does not show them on the monitor or after the piece is rendered. Maybe I shouldn't be using a blend. I'm at work so I'll have to send a screen grab tomorrow.

you're using dissolve? not sure what you mean by blend? i am not that smart with kdenlive and the various transitions I thought maybe I could help. when you highlight the dissolve, there are options for forward or backward (or whatever it's referred to as), what is yours set to?

Overlapping of two clips is not sufficient to produce a transition between them. You must add a transition, the default one (dissolve) can be applied with a shortcut button that only appears hovering the bottom right corner of each clip.

i see a transition or something at the overlap. wonder if it's just because the 2 tracks have such similar videos that you just can't see the dissolve happen?

Hi,
you are right. It is because you use the same clip twice without any other clip in-between. I don't know if it is a bug or feature *kidding* - it shouldn't happen, but it do so. Duplicate that clip on your HD. Name them a/b and use them in a / b / a / b order. Everything will be fine. Remember that this behavior will also appear if you are using kdenlive projects as virtual clips! *very cool feature!* Except from those "little nastys" Kdenlive is a stable tool. Regards, yours-truly |
