problem with sliders

Tue Jul 05, 2011 4:22 pm
Hello everybody,
I'm very satisfied with kdenlive, but I'm having a strange issue with some effects:
for example if I use a curves effect from the colour correction, when I create a point on the curve for luma (eg.) the picture becomes white, and no matter how I move the point the picture doesn't change even if the curve is maintained strait .

the same thing happens when I use the vignette effect: the centre of the ellipse is on the top/left corner of the picture even if I move the x and y sliders from 0 to 999 but if x=1000 (max value) then the centre of the ellipse pops or jumps to the top/right corner. the feather behaves the same way ( the edge is sharp for all the values between 1 and 999 , and becomes soft suddenly with the values 1000 ie max value ).

I'm using kdenlive from sunab_svn on ubuntu 10.10 32bits

thanks for your help.

Hi al,

Cannot reproduce here. It sounds like if you were using wrong effect xml files. What does
$ find /usr |grep 'kdenlive/effects/frei0r_curves.xml'
return? Did you also compile a kdenlive version yourself?

thanks Granjow for your fast reply .
Well I didn't compile kdenlive at all, but I'm using a pre-compiled version from the sunab_svn ppa as mentioned above.
for the terminal instruction here's the output:

/usr/share/kde4/apps/kdenlive/effects/frei0r_curves.xml

I guess it's ok.

I think this has something to do with kde itself but I'm not sure !
any other suggestions ?
thanx.

Can you try this in a terminal:

melt -profile dv_pal myvideo.mpg -attach vignette radius=0.3

(replace myvideo.mpg with one of your clips). What is the result? Does the vignette effect work correctly (circle centered in image)?

Next, try this:

melt -profile dv_pal myvideo.mpg -attach vignette radius=0.3 -consumer xml

And copy / paste the result here.

Ok, the xml output seems correct (I should remember that pasting xml in a forum post is not a great idea)

Strange that you got a black video... Let's try with a color clip:

melt -profile dv_pal colour:red -attach vignette radius=0.3

Also, to make sure that you don't have several MLT versions installed, please post the result of:

ls -la /usr/local/lib/libmlt*

and

ls -la /usr/lib/libmlt*

thanks again.
the first line gave me a black video again.

the other instructions give this:

:~$ ls -la /usr/local/lib/libmlt*

ls: impossible d'accéder à /usr/local/lib/libmlt*: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type

:~$ ls -la /usr/lib/libmlt*

What about:

melt -profile dv_pal colour:red

You said you are using MLT/Kdenlive from sunab's experimental repository. Did you update to latest available version? (kdenlive rev. 5767)?

Ok, so you have the same problem as in Kdenlive, the center of the vignette circle is not centered. So there must be something wrong in MLT. I wonder if you are affected be a locale issue, like reported on the bugtracker:

http://kdenlive.org/mantis/view.php?id=2182

What is the output of this in a terminal:

locale

Re: problem with sliders

Wed Jul 06, 2011 8:35 pm
loale gives this :

LANG=fr_FR.utf8
LC_CTYPE="fr_FR.utf8"
LC_NUMERIC="fr_FR.utf8"
LC_TIME="fr_FR.utf8"
LC_COLLATE="fr_FR.utf8"
LC_MONETARY="fr_FR.utf8"
LC_MESSAGES="fr_FR.utf8"
LC_PAPER="fr_FR.utf8"
LC_NAME="fr_FR.utf8"
LC_ADDRESS="fr_FR.utf8"
LC_TELEPHONE="fr_FR.utf8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="fr_FR.utf8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="fr_FR.utf8"
LC_ALL=

(the last line is empty )

that is the source of all my pain, so what is the solution ? do I have to change the localization ?
