Hi!
My goal is to use a graphical element, which has to move into the screen, hanging there for a while and moving out fluently. I designed a title (svg) and with the animation settings of the clip properties it moves in and out of the screen correctly. But is there a way to speed up this animation? Adjusting de 'duration' won't. And how can I realize the element will stay still for a moment (halfway its animation)? This tutorial (http://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manual/Titles) helps on opacity) is useful, but doesn't handle more on animation speed. Is this feature under development? My Kdenlive = 0.94 running on Ubuntu 12.10 Hoping for some helpful suggestions!

I believe if you are using the animation functionality described http://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manual/Titles#To_make_the_title_scroll_vertically then changing the duration of the animation will indeed change the speed that the title scrolls. The title is moved so that it gets from the marked start point to the marked end point in the time allowed by the duration of the title clip.
The method of title animation described will not however allow a pause in the middle. For this I would try adding a pan and zoom effect http://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manual/Effects/Crop_and_transform/Pan_and_Zoom to the title and use 4 key frames to define start and stop points. |

I do on/off titles in a somewhat roundabout way but it's the only way I've found that is reliable - making duplicate titles for 'On' 'Hold' and 'Off' and then changing the length and start/end positions of each title and arranging all three in sequence in the timeline. eg. the 'but will they print' title at 5;47 in this video: http://www.kdenlive.org/forum/workshop-video-building-6-reprap-open-source-3d-printers
is made from 3 titles: Will they print On: 6 frames, start position edited to off-screen, end position 0 Will they print Hold: 4 seconds, start and end position are both at 0, no animation. Will they print Off: 6 frames, start position 0, end position off screen. then you can easily alter the length of your 'Hold' title without affecting the speed of your On/Off titles. If anyone has a simpler method that works I would love to hear it!

Thank you for your response!
@ttguy I did it that way and (I thought) I knew this method.. But instead of using text to be scrolled, I'm using a vector graphic (svg). Somehow, shortening the title clip doesn't affect the speed of my moving graphic. I will find out what's going on :) @samoos What a great project! Very nice video! Your title at 5:47 is exactly what I meant! I will try your suggestion! Cheers!

Interesting. I have not tried animated scrolling titles with images in them. If you don't use images does changing the length of the title change the speed of the animation for you? Because maybe you have uncovered a defect.

I figured out that the content (text/image) is irrelevant to my issue. It's like you said: adjusting the duration of the title clip won't change the speed of the animation. I'll give it a try again :)

Ok. So I was just playing with this and I have learn't something and updated the http://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manual/Titles doco. It is the duration of the title - in the title clip editor - that you need to change to change the speed of the scrolling. See red rectangle on the screen shot.
Changing the length of the title clip on the time-line does not change the scrolling speed. If the length of the clip on the time line is longer than the duration specified in the title editor, the titles will pause on the screen for the time after the titles duration expires. Are you adjusting duration on the title editor or on the time line? |

Oops, I didn't see your reaction for months! I thought the duration feature in the title editor had a bug at that time, because adjusting it didn't effect the speed of the animation. At this moment I'm using Kdenlive 0.9.6 and I don't experience any problems. Anyways, more (suggestions to) options on title animation are always welcome
