Stereo (3D) movies and transitions

Mon Sep 16, 2013 1:50 pm
Hi all,

Does any of you have some experience doing stereographic movies with kdenlive?
I do have a GoPro 3D system that gives me two in-sync movies, and I can scale, position and adjust them to render properly in SBS mode. But how would I combine several short clips, i.e., do transitions between such 'merged' pairs? Do I have to do this two-step wise, first rendering the short clips, and then mix those together in a second run? Or can it be done in a single project?

Your idea of doing a two step process is going to be the best approach. Produce a side by side bit of footage of your raw material and then edit that. I would image that fancy transitions are not going to work though with this approach. Eg if you do a wipe transition it is going to start on your left eye version and wipe across it first and then wipe over your right eye version (for a left to right wipe).

But this technique works for simple cuts. Support for 3D footage would be a future feature. !!!
