How to merge three video streams

Thu Oct 10, 2013 4:08 pm
I want to have one video in background with two small views at the bottom. I was trying to use transition area (? "Bereich") and affine but that works with one smaller view only, the second is not merged into. The idea now is to run the process in two steps, ie. save an intermediate result and merge the second view into it. But I'm afraid to compress twice, probably with wrong settings. The main stream is a mpeg4.2 with 1594x818 at 15fps (screencast), 1st view is dv with 720x576 (camcorder), and 2nd is mp1 320x240 x 30fps (webcam with direct view).
So my question: How to process all at once? or alternatively How to save the intermediate step best?

I'm not exactly sure about what you want to achieve, so my suggestion may be wrong: place the backround clip on, say, track 3. Place the two smaller clips on tracks 1 and 2. Use affine translation on first track and set it to compose with track 3. Do the same for your clip on track 2, so that it composes with track 3 too. It may not be exactly intuitive at the first time, but you need to compose track 1 and 2 separately on track 3. Don't forget to change to size of the clips, you do this in the affine transition: click on the transition in the timeline, make sure that the first keyframe is selected and change the size and position of the composition itself. Repeat with second clip. Done.

Eventuell kannst Du das auch im dt Unterforum fragen, wenn das Dir einfacher fällt.

That's exactly what I try. But I cannot merge all three footages, only two.

Strange. It works when I copy and paste the first transition (actually composite doesn't do the job) into the second lane. But it messes up when I add the transition as new. Good to know :-)
