Hello,

I'm a newbie with Kdenlive 0.9.6 and I struggle with either insertions of clip or changing their duration.

For example, I created a test project with on the timeline about 100 photos
* if I want to add a new photo to the very beginning of the timeline, the only method I found is to select all photos on the timeline, then shift them to the right to make sufficient time space, insert the new photo and then drag then back to end of the new 1st photo.
* I apply the same method if for example I need to change the duration of the 2nd photo from 3sec to 5sec. I tried to right-click and change the duration of the image, hoping it would shift right all images, but no.

Would you be so kind enough to indicate (the) non clumpsy way(s) to perform these basic operations.

One little improvement would be to use the spacer-tool (see at the tool-icons, looks like |->) With keyboard shortcuts for select-arrow and spacer-tool the adjustment of the timeline should be easier. But shifting the timeline on changing the length of a clip would be nice, I agree.

A pity in regards to the very insteresting effects of KDEnlive, but for routine basics such as these or titles, then it seems that developpers ought to learn from Windows Live Movie Maker.
May be this should be filed as a feature request, just as the "sticky" paste with SketchUP.

In regard to the complexity of achieving these in KDEnlive vs WLMM, choice is easy, I will export some shots with KDEnlive effects, but will stick to WLMM.

Hope then next release, will focus on easier UI, rather than effects.

Agreed that some UI tasks are not too obvious. On the other hand, I've personally come to find the spacer tool really useful indeed and have assigned it its own keyboard shortcut. Especially when you are working with multiple tracks, you may very well end up with projects where the simpler UIs quickly come to their ends and become annoying. After working with Kdenlive for two years now I may have learned to live with its quirks ... but aside from my adoption I really see some seemingly difficult things to be in fact very effective.
