Hi,
i'm searching for a method to censor the license plate in a video. I have already tried the automask and censor effect, but i doesn't work well. I have an idea, but i don't know if it's possible to do: 1. Use the original video on video layer 1 2. Use the same video on video layer 2 and blur the complete video 3. stamp the areas which should be censored on video layer 1 -> now the blured video areas should be visible 1 and 2 is no problem, but i don't know how to execute point 3. Can someone help me please? Thanks in advance! Best regards, Flo |

Basically, two different methods come to my mind, both base on manipulating the alpha layer of one of the clips in the time line. There may be other methods as well.
It's more convenient to blur the clip on track one, you'll see in a minute why. So add the blur effect to clip on track 1, next either add a (1) clip and pan effect or an (2) alpha shape effect (for shape rectangle) to the same clip. I don't remember the exact effect names off my head but you should be able to find the right ones. Change the parameters such that you only get the area where the number plate is. Finally add an affine or composite transition that combines the blurred license plate with track 2. The unblurred clip will be visible everywhere where the alpha mask is zero for the track 1 clip. |

You could consider using the rotoscope effect to create the alpha channel.
