hello,
Can anybody help me with suggestions of effecs for an interview that is supposed to be filmed in 1492?
so I think I would need vignette et also some sepia ... Is that all in a single effect?
Also when I tried to use vignette everything got black... do you know why?
Any idea is welcome,
Thank you in advance :)

This is a hard one because it depends on your capabilities. For 'filmick' style effects I actually just process a blank roll of film, rough it up a bit. and then scan it. I scan my own film using a Dukane 500 projector and a digital camera.

As an example, for the following piece I developed a blank roll - about 250ft - in caffenol (I dont think I exposed itbefore hand) and then creased it, drug it outside and threw it in a mud puddle, jumped up and down on it a few times and then drove my car over it. After it dried I scaned it and then loaded it as an 'additive' layer.

That's a nice idea!
Do you think I could have an effect like "old paper" with this technique?
The point is that I only have my very simple A4 scan, so I would have to film my old paper than to create a "loop": which would be the best conditions to film it?

Yeah, scanning paper should work well. I would have a few different sheets stained so different cuts in the video could have a slightly different look. I've never looked into methods for ageing paper... but you can probably experiment with coffee and tea... and maybe buring the edges, etc. You could even hand write your titles pretty easially... keep in mind how the image aspect ratio needs to be changed to match that of the video though.

I like to slightly animate everything so it may be a good idea to scan each sheet of paper a few times and slightly (very slightly) moving it in the scanner after each time to simulate film weave... I think it helps make images feel more like they are in motion with the video instead of a still image over the video.

Then I think just layer it over the video, then adjust colors and contrast and it should start to look pretty good.
