Wipe Overlaying Black, not Alpha

Fri Feb 20, 2015 2:39 pm
In Kdenlive, how does one use an image file wipe transition on a title, so that rather than black covering the video, it uses alpha to expose the video in the lower track?

If you add an Affine transition between your title on video track 1 and a video on video track 2 then the underlying video should show through.

This screen shot shows what the time line would look like in this setup. (ignore the opacity setting and the keyframes )

Thanks for your answer, but you've missed the point-- I am talking about a wipe transition, not just titles over video, but wiping the video on and off with an image. Actually, I've tried it even with two videos (not a video and a title), and the image wipe is wiping black over the lower video, not showing the expected behaviour.

Thanks for trying to help!! Perhaps what I'm trying to do is not possible.

jasonsilver - maybe you should post a screen shot of the timeline showing what you are doing. Because - yep - I do not get your point.

I'm also not sure I understand correctly. Re-reading jason's second post, I'm actually sure I missed the point :)

But using Composite transition might be the solution still. I recommend playing around with the "with track" option of the Transition(s)!

Linked, a video tutorial, which I made in a moment of being sure I understood the problem :)
