Yea that's how I use effects (in combination with each other) already, because on their own, they don't really do much other than basic stuff. So I really wish KDenlive had more effects. That way, making videos wouldn't take me forever having to apply 100s of effects to one single clip. That said, there are quite many good audio effects. There are still very few effects as far as color manipulation and color replacement . I'm not even able to reverse a video clip or the audio for that matter. And what effects can I use in order to remove the background on a clip where the foreground is moving, or vise versa? As for the effects you were talking about? Are they already implemented into kdenlive? I'm not a programmer or nothing, so I have no idea what you meant by frei0or and c+. And you said that some effects come with melt. Is that like a program or something? Where can I find those melt effects so I can add them to kdenlive? And something that I find to be very annoying is how unspecific cutting is. When I try to cut something at the end or beginning of a clip, it cuts too much. You can't be more specific than 10 milliseconds or so. Really makes it hard to sentence mix without it sounding weird. And I'm still trying to remove the background color in a video so that the video on track 2 becomes the background. I've looked at all your tutorial videos about blue screen and chroma keying, but still no luck. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I am really trying to give kdenlive a fair chance here, so I really do hope they will improve on these things in the future. |

>As for the effects you were talking about? Are they already implemented into kdenlive?
mlt is always installed together with kdenlive, so they are available. frei0r is an effect bundle that can be _additionally_ installed - check your systems package manager if you did that already. >And something that I find to be very annoying is how unspecific cutting is. Currently you can position the timeline pointer only framewise. With 25 frames per second you will reach a 0,04 second accurancy (a 25th of a second) from one frame to the next. That this is not always exact enough to match each music beat is a known problem for the developers and has been adressed already. >And I'm still trying to remove the background color in a video so that the video on track 2 becomes the background. I've >looked at all your tutorial videos about blue screen and chroma keying, but still no luck. I have no idea what I'm doing >wrong. Unless you do not tell us what exactly you do or you post some screenshots, we cannot help you out. Removing a single background color is nothing more than applying the chromakey effect, choose the color to be removed and combine the chromakey track with another by Composite or Affine transition - about that is how it worked when I tried it. >I'm not even able to reverse a video clip or the audio for that matter. You may have missed the documentation about the Project Tree, where you can reverse clips (reverse is not an effect). Check "Project Tree -right click menu": https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manua ... oject_Tree Reversing the clip does mute audio. To reverse audio you will have to separate audio from video (keyword is demuxing) and reverse audio in a different software, e.g. audacity. Then import the reversed audio into your project and apply it to an audio track. ttguy told you this before. >I am really trying to give kdenlive a fair chance here, so I really do hope they will improve on these things in the future kdelive is worth a chance. kdenlives improves from version to version - horay to the developers. From my point of view I hope, kdenlive stays a reliable video editing software. Massive effects would usually be applied after cutting by tools specialized for that, like AfterEffects. I do not like the one tool for all approach. I guess you will have more fun after installing frei0r effects. And as kdenlive is more powerful than moviemaker it is surely a good idea and well invested time, if you read the complete manual. |

Thanks for your reply.
I already have the frei0r plugins installed. And I have already tried adding chromakey to video 1 (chosen the background color and set it to 0) and applied Composite to video 2. I was able to do this with a black background earlier. But chromakey was not able to remove the black color that was fading into a different color. Not sure if there's an effect to fix that though. As for reverse. That audio bug is what I'm referring to when I say it doesn't work. Doing stuff in a separate app is out of the question, because it already takes forever. You seriously need to fix this bug. And how come Scratchmarks is the only colorart effect? There are not many effects in Kdenlive, and with such unspecific timeline position, making YTP videos is nearly impossible. And how come frei0r are the only effects I can use? Why is it not possible to implement other effects from for instance Sony Vegas, WMM or Pinnacle Studio? I think you should look into that as well. |

I do not program stuff for kdenlive. You repeat yourself and you start to urge me personally to fix things. I cannot answer questions why something is how it is.
If kdenlive is not the right software for you, use something different. Over and out. |

I think you should read the previous replys. I already told you how to reverse video and audio in this post. Kdenlives inability to reverse audio is not a bug. You could request it as a feature. But this forum is not the place to do that. As to your chroma keying issues I already told you that chromakeying poorly shot footage is an issue. If kdenlive can not chromakey your poorly shot footage then try some other video editor. If another editor can do it then I guess Kdenlive sucks. But until you have evidence that another editor can deal with your poorly shot footage then I will reserve judgement. Have you triedkeysplillm0pup to try and clean up your footage? Are there other video editors that can do greater than frame accurate editing? I would have thought that you could not edit a video to anything more accurate than a single frame. If there are such editors then feel free to use one of them. Do Sony Vegas, WMM or Pinnacle Studio publish the details of the algorithms used in there effects? If they do then you should quit your job, teach your self how to program in C++ and you should get right on developing all the Sony Vegas, WMM and Pinnacle Studio effects for use in Kdenlive. You can add these to the only 99 video effects and 31 transitions that Kdenlive already has. https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manua ... ransitions over and out ! |

@TTGuy Well. sorry I thought you worked for Kdenlive.
And yes, I do read all the replies. But what's with that new attitude? I ask a few questions and you start acting just super weird and autistic all of a sudden? What the ****, man? Well. Sorry for asking questions in a support forum, weirdo. @capslock I didn't mean to repeat myself. So if I did, I'm sorry. And I wish I could use a different video editing software, but this one's the best on Linux as far as I know. It's an okay video editor, especially because it's free. So I'm not ungrateful. But it has a long way to go, in my opinion. At the same time though, I don't think "free" is an excuse. Because there should at least be one paid video editor for Linux that can push the others a little bit. You know? Because when all of them are free, you don't really have much competition because they're not competing against Sony Vegas or Pinnacle. They are competing against each other. And they are (like I said) not there yet. Anyway, back on topic. Does anyone know how I can create effects for Kdenlive? Where do I start? What program can I use? (NO command line programs please). |

Before starting to learn C++ , the mathematical basics on picture manipulation and runtime optimization, you should consider to ask for help on reaching the desired effects on your footage. Start a thread on each effect you have problems with. Describe exactly what you want to achieve. Describe how you currently try to achive it. Offer some original footage that does not work for you to give us something to play with and to understand your problem.
