Removal of glare/ reflections

Mon May 25, 2015 7:29 pm
Hello,
first I am new to kdenlive and video effects in common.
I made some movies with my wife cooking in our kitchen with a http://www.nikon.de/de_DE/product/discontinued/digital-cameras/coolpix-l27.
Probably due to the neon tubes below the wall units I had some glare/ reflections ins some parts and some underexposed areas where e.g. the face of my wife is. I can fix the face of my wife but I do not get rid of the glare/ reflections. During noon and early afternoon this was no problem, but the later it got, the worse it became.
I already watched some tutorial videos and thanks to them got the dark face fixed, but I found no working solution for the glare/ reflections.
It would be nice if someone here could give me a hint.
The video can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHstwT_XrOE.

Thanks in Advance

Re: Removal of glare/ reflections  Topic is solved

The 'solutions' to both problems should be handled during filming.

For reflections in glass spray a thin film of hairspray... larger areas can be covered with a mixture of coke and water applied with a chemical pump sprayer.

The glare is removed by replacing the bulb in the light fixture with an extremely low power bulb or by removing it all together. I would suggest buying some shop floor lights... they are the standard thing to start with as an indie filmmaker.

You will need to:
1. Light her probably by bouncing the light off of the wall behind you to soften it in order to avoid shadows. Learn the difference between hard and soft light.
2. Light the wall in the background.
3. and/or light the opposite side of her. This make a rim of light around her, which will separate her from the background.

Many thanks for your hints, especially for the one to use the behind wall for indirect lighting.
Regarding the hairspray. I think there I have to use something else because hairspray on the reflecting kitchen tools has probably a bad taste.
