Running Kubuntu Linux
I am trying to create videos from images snapped every 5 min from my weathercam. I can do THAT, but: The problem is that EACH image I import needs to have the time that image was created ON the image itself. I'm thinking the creation date from the filesystem itself. SOME cameras do this automatically. NOT mine SO, I need a way to add that info either pre-production or within KDENLIVE. I've not found a solution so far and have turned here to see if someone may have an answer. I'm SURE others have this problem too. THANKS for looking. |

To my knowledge, Kdenlive cannot insert the timecode of clips into clips. There have been feature requests five years ago, but they seem to never have been implemented. Please see next post below.
As for doing this in post outside Kdenlive, ffmpeg seems to be able to do this, but I never tried, but a search for ffmpeg insert timecode brings up some web pages, stack overflow including.

Not what I was needing, though still interesting to know.
The project involves security cams. I need the date/timestamp of EACH individual IMAGE to be overlayed on THAT image so that when it is imported into Kdenlive and something interesting shows up, I know WHEN the event ACTUALLY happened. I'm thinking some procedure which will get the creation date of the image and overlay it. I'm pretty sure there is some way to do it. I'm also pretty sure it will be OUTSIDE Kdenlive and require a lot of processing. NO problem for me - 8 cores and 16Gb mem. Kdenlive is what I'll then use normally to import and render to a video. You solution creates a time-stamp of the assembled images, which tells me nothing about the time of occurrence. USEFUL to be sure, but not in this instance. Anyone know of a way? It's kind of funny. I KNOW I am not the only one with this issue. I'm SURE many other people running SecCams that would benefit. THANKS AGAIN In advance! |

As you wrote yourself: The solution for this is based outside kdenlive and maybe e.g. a gimp forum is the better place to ask for image manupulation. |
