Hi Guys,

I have just upgrade to version 15.08.1 (Ubuntu 15.10) and I am not sure chat i am doing wrong with the Affine / composite effect.

I have a title on track VIDEO 1 and want to make a transition with my Video track 2, so i added the composite effect, put a keyframe at the beginning with Opacity = 0 and another keyframe at the end with opacity = 100

But my picture on Video just slides over video 2.... although

Same with Composite or Affine project, when it does not make kdenlive crash.

Why is this behaving like this ? I used to do the same with previous version of Kdenlive with no such issue.

Thank you for your help.

One thing I notice that you got bitten by the Kdenlive 15.08.x bug where the default wipe file is wipe01 instead of don't-use-one. In your case, this enforces wiping and switches the meaning of the opacity parameter from simple opacity to swipe control. You should be able to work around by using the Affine transition though.

Can you please save the project after switching to Affine transition, then restart Kdenlive completely, then load the project again. Does the problem still persist? (I'm suspecting some packaging problem here, as aside from the known wipe file bug 15.08.1 worked for me quite okay, but was compiled directly from sources to avoid package errors.)

I think the problem is the wipe file being selected in the transition parameters.

You can try selecting "none" as the wipe file and then saving and restarting/reopening the project but it might persist. In that case I would suggest you use dissolve transition pieces for the fades in that version.

In recent versions of kdenlive (git), there is no wipe file selected by default (as it should be) however, if you select one and then deselect it again, it will act as if the wipe file is still selected.

Here's a video where I tested this in 15.08.3 and recent git: https://youtu.be/ApcJ_LLrtX8

I reported a bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356200 . Thanks for your report!

EDIT: @TheDiveO: in arch linux' kdenlive 15.08.3 the problem exists. If you're on a different platform, that might indicate it was a problem in the source.

Hi guys,

thank you very much for your quick reply, yes there is actually no issue with the affine effect, but for some reason my laptop keeps crashing when i use it and scroll too fast.
All good now with the affine :)

I need to check as well why kdenlive keeps crashing when i'm too quick with scrolling and so on...

Thank you for your help, and thank you for providing us such great software !!

All the best from France !

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354806 is the bug I was thinking of when I wrote that I was bitten around Kdenlive 15.08.x of the default wipe set. However, I never checked that while the bug for the unwanted default was fixed, another regression is still alive that causes the wipe file setting to become really sticky.
