Guess this must have been asked a lot of times, searching the forum i couldnt find anything, so sorry if this is a redundancy:
for a film project a friend will make some titles, clips at the beginning and rolling titles at the end, in after effects i guess.. I want to overlay the titles on the film that is in the background. is it that all programs "understand" transparency? i know in gimp or photoshop i can export an image with background transparent, but can i do that with video files as well? and is there a specific format for that? thank you guys! |

videos do not support alpha channel. what you have to do is export from after effects a png sequence and overlay on your video in kdenlive.

Depending on the title clip and the background clip you can sometimes use transitions such as burn, dodge, screen, et cetera. But this requires careful design. Also, greenscreening may be an option, but be careful as this can result in less than stellar blending, with ragged borders.

thank you guys!!!
i ll try a png sequence , guess that is the safest choice, and if this is cumbersome i ll just send a "lossless" part of the beginning to my friend to burn the titles on top.. Thanks again ! |
