While working on a recent project, today I quickly checked my suggestion: yes, recent Kdenlive testing branch has the nice improvement that if you select a clip in the timeline and then choose clip in project bin, the clip not only gets selected in the project bin but also its in and out points set according to the clip in the timeline.

This is also sweet when you are working on some longer clip, breaking it down into pieces. You can easily get back to the in/out positions in the source clip that correspond to a particular clip region in the timeline, picking up the edit where you left it earlier. Fits in nicely into my own workflow.
