Hi,

I just upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04.1, and since it doesn't have avidemux, I went looking for other stuff. Just starting to learn the ropes on kdenlive!

I'm trying to do a basic effect where I:

1) Cut out a short clip from a video and stick it into the timeline

2) Make a copy of the little cut clip and append it at the end of the first one

3) Reverse the second copy

So for example, if the clip I cut out was "someone jumping into a pool", then the completed video will look like, "someone jumping into the pool and then reversing back out of the pool" if that makes sense.

It seems to me this should be one of the easiest things to do, but I cannot for the life of me find it!


The only thing I've found is that I can go to "clip jobs" (on the long master clip, and not the timeline with the clip cutout I actually want to edit), and create a duplicate of the ENTIRE video clip that is reversed, and then I have to manually cut the reversed piece out of that. That's a really terrible/inefficient workflow, especially if I want to this effect with a lot of little bits and pieces of a longer video.

What's the way to do this? I'm pretty new, so I assume there's just a right click menu item on the timeline clip itself that I'm just not finding or something...

There is no reverse clip today - as basic as is is...

You can try to cut the input file, abd then you should be able to add the short clip to the project, either from the timeline or from the clip monitor. If you are lucky you can reverse the short clip then.

Yep that's what I've been doing I suppose it's not all that bad. Thanks for confirming!

And what about Speed effect (Motion > Speed) and set -100%?
