Thx. That means no typewriter in 16.08.2 ?

Then I probably won't update to that new version 16.x There is nothing in 15.x I miss. Text animation for talking head videos is extreme good.

Looks like changes to the title editor made it a requirement to disable the typewriter effect back in early 2015:

No, the typewriter effect is not available in 16.08.2 and probably not available since 15.04.

I solved the missing typewriter effect partially, furthermore a workaround: I make the typewriter effect in LibreOffice impress using effect "draw text with other color": write text in color white so that the text is invisible, then using the effect draw with other color, then make screen recording with vokoscreen, then import this video to kdenlive. :)
(But please re-integrate typewriter effect, in many simple cases of only few words it's much faster to realise it with effect typewriter in kdenlive)

My solution '(or workaround) seem so be more work than implemented in kdenlive, but in reality the typewriter in kdenlive 0.9.xx was not flexible an error prone:
1. kdenlive nearly alway crashing when playing the timeline. Workaround: switch off displaying that line and testing at some points if speed was ok.
2. Speed was not scaleable.
By importing an extra video I can scale perfectly with speed of the video and nothing crashes. So there is no more work using LibeOffice.

I'll support kdenlive with 50 Euro a year up to now! A excellent software! thx to developers!

I promise extra 50 euro if typewriter will be re-integrated.

Where can I ask to re-integrate typewriter in later versions? Is there a feature list where I can insert it?

you can submit a feature request at the bug tracker... but all the developers efforts are now focused on the timeline refactoring which will bring more stability and professional features. or post a bounty for someone to pick it up.

Hi!
I miss the typewriter animation as well. I wonder what's the reason it was removed from KDEnlive. In my case, the editing never crashed on this function.
Hope the effect will return!
Cheers!
