Is there a tool / effect for anamorphic footage? Does anybody here has experience with handling anamorphic recorded video? I m just starting to look into that....

asking again after some month, who knows
there is a series of new adapters coming up (https://www.cinema5d.com/slr-magic-intr ... r-cameras/) making anamorphicshooting more affordable and possible for 16:9 cameras... maybe it would be possible to use some squeeze function till it works? I dont have any raw anamorphic footage i could try around with ;( |

I haven;t worked with Kdenlive some time now (since 0.9x),, but isn't that just a matter of setting the aspect ratios, no special effect needed?

somehow you need to desqueeze the image. and like I shoot it in a "false" aspect ratio and then have to apply an effect to obtain the real aspect ratio, I m not sure how to really do it. maybe it s just applying a x,y,z axis effect, but i dont really get it done here with some sample footage i got (here is some http://www.arri.com/camera/alexa/learn/ ... e_footage/)...

@ markoc
you were right! and i figured out in the properties menu you can change the pixel aspect ratio to achieve a de-squeezed image, thank you very much!! Only one problem remains: the aspect ratio i can only change in whole number steps, which means for a de squeeze of 2x for normal anamorphic lenses on 4:3 format this would work well. For people who shoot on a 16:9 format with 1.3X anamorphic adapter or lenses there is no way to change the pixel ratio to 1.33 (at least on my desktop..) any ideas? shall i fill a feature request? |

Set the pixel aspect ratio to 4/3. This will give you a 1.33 aspect ratio.
