I sometimes have interlaced content to edit and I am struggling to find a good process to de-interlace it.
Right now I am doing the edits in KDENLIVE, rendering the project in lossless huff and then using avidemux w/filters to deinterlace. Is there a setting to deinterlace in kdenlive? I have been unable to find one. |

Either choose a progressive project setting or set the scanning to "Progressive" in the render dialog. Anyway, you will get a good quality yadif deinterlace. See: https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manua ... g_Dropdown

Just ran some tests with a couple of 1080/60i AVCHD.mts clips recorded on a Canon HF-G30.
Testing with KDenLive 16.12.1 running on Kubuntu 16.10 AMD64. Yes, when the project is set to 29.97p or the 'scanning' in the render options is set to Progressive, the output is deinterlaced (single field) 29.97p. This was testing with UTVideo as the render format. That said, setting the project to 59.94p does not bring about bob-deinterlaced 59.94p. Although the output framerate is 59.94 fps, it is made up of duplicates of the single-field deinterlaced frames. In order to obtain true 'bob-deinterlaced' double-rate 59.94p (or 50p, if the source is 50i) it would still be necessary to edit and render interlaced and then deinterlace the render with AVIDemux (or ffmpeg) with Yadif configured for bob-deinterlace: https://www.avidemux.org/admWiki/doku.p ... lter_yadif Or else deinterlace the source in like manner before input into KDenLive and edit at 59.94p or 50p, as appropriate. Actually, this is the way KDenLive converts input frame-rates to conform to the project frame rate - adding (duplicating) or deleting frames, as appropriate. Still, when it comes to editing 60i/50i sources it would be nice to have an option to bob-deinterlace if the project is set for 59.94p or 50p; something like a 'Force Bob-Deinterlace' option in the Project Settings. |
