Roate AND fit to screen?

Fri Mar 10, 2017 3:43 pm
Hello everyone,

I am trying to rotate a 1920x1080 video so that it is 1080x1920. Now I can rotate by 90 degrees but that will crop my video.

Is there any way to rotate + fit to screen (and preferable delete the black border from left + right) ?

Thanks !

Unless you can tolearte a gross distortion of the image, either crop or black borders are unavoidable.
This is not a deficiency of Kdnelive, it is so in principle.

Yes ofcourse there will be borders but:

If I rotate a 1920x1080 image then it will be 1080x1920... and when displaying this on a 1920x1080 screen it will be a really small video.

Instead I want it to rotate and still be 1920x1080 but with the video rotated... does that make any sense lol?

In that case, you will have to make a "portait" profile of 1080x1920 for output.
I've never done this, so can't help you much. Maybe it will be necessary to use an intermediate 1920x1920 format and do it in two steps, to avoid quality loss through downsampling.
