I'm new to kdenlive and it's definitely awesome software, but I have a huge problem with it and that is that none of the video effects work at all, whatsoever. If I apply an effect to a video strip (eg. Curves or HSV), it just straight up doesn't work, or it only works on max value and nowhere in between, however more the former. I'm using Ubuntu Studio 16.10, with KDE Plasma and an i7 6700, Intel HD Graphics 530, No GPU.

What do you expect to happen when you apply an effect? The picture on the right (preview) doesn't change straight away when you set the parameters of an effect, you have to start playing the movie to see the effect. Try it, you'll see it works.

You seem to be using an older version of Kdenlive, aren't you ?

I'm using version 16.12.2

I downloaded the latest AppImage and tried with that, same result:

I'm not sure what exactly I did, but for some reason it seems to be working now. I did enable the use of Intel's proprietary driver so that may have done something, but it's working now. I won't mark this thread as solved yet until I do some testing to make sure that this is the solution.

Update: after restarting Kdenlive, the effects have gone back to not working

I've discovered a really strange bug that's causing this. The effects don't work on video at all, however as soon as I add a title clip, effects start working, I'll keep looking into it, but this is what is happening so far:
