I can add transitions, any kind of transition between two clips, but it only becomes visible when the new, ie "in" clips starts. I cannot get the effect to start on the "out" clip whatever I do. I think I must have clicked on an option somewhere without realising it.

One thing I have noticed is that whatever the name of the transition, lets say if its is wipe, it shows up as "wipe|>", which looks weird (maybe it should be "<|wipe|>"?. I don't know if that means anything, but it might be helpful if anyone knows why this might be happening.
