I am fairly new to kdenlive so this may be an easy question. I did poke through the forums but did not see anything that seemed to answer my question. I have project that I am working on where I want to scroll a graphic vertically down the screen. The graphic is a .png file of an audio wave form that is 100x10240. the idea is to scroll the graphic down the screen so that its motion starts when a music track starts and ends when the music track ends. I have successfully done this with the graphic scrolling horizontally right to left but I cannot get it to work vertically.

I think I am missing something about how the effects work on clips in general. For instance my steps to try and achieve my goal are this:

1. Select the clip in the timeline and apply the Transform effect so that i can scale, rotate, and move the graphic.
2. I set the width and height parameters to match the size of the graphic.
*** I am not sure why they are not automatically picked up, am I doing something wrong?
*** Now that the height and width are set the graphic jumped to the top of the screen with a red border around it.
3. I center it horizontally and vertically so I can keep track of it.
4. I apply rotation.
*** The effect seems to orient on a corner of the graphic, how I do make it center the rotation around the center of the graphic?

After some messing around with X and Y and I can finally find my graphic that has been moved off the screen somewhere. How do I apply affects so that I can always keep it in view?

Thanks.

Why wrong topic? This is a question about the way video effects work to the Video Effects & Transitions board.

Not you, me. I clicked the wrong topic, meant to reply to one of mine, scrolled down and replied without realizing I was on the wrong page. One of the unbelievably huge number of missing features of this forum is the ability to delete your own post.

I am writing this answer from a kdenlive 17.04.01 view.

You do nothing wrong. The image is scaled to your project settings by default.

4. I apply rotation.
*** The effect seems to orient on a corner of the graphic, how I do make it center the rotation around the center of the graphic?

Sorry, don't know if there is a solution for that.

There is no guarantee to have your working results always in view. You can zoom out the preview screen by holding STRG+SHIFT or STRG and roll the mousewheel.

For your editing, you may want to rotate the image before importing it into kdenlive. Then, using the zoom feature, you can easily place your image in the preview screen by dragging the cross in the center of the image. The Pan & Zoom supports keyframes, so you will be able to animate the image.
