I have used Kdenlive a few times as just a very basic editor, manually cutting clips down, joining a few clips together and then rendering to get my final video.
Today I have been trying to speed up a video clip, so the clip is selected go to effects motion but I find that the speed tab is greyed out, well sort of I can click on it and drop onto the clip but I can never get the speed selection, so I can not change it to make it faster/slower as required. The video clip it self ends up with speed in the top left, but that is it. Just wondering if I have missed a check box or need an extra package to enable this feature. Base system is Suse 42.3 64 bit. All installed through the default software manager with Suse and I have versions kldenlive 17.12.0 MLT version 6.4.1 and ffmpeg libraries. In case it effects the answer, the video clips are from a Fujifilm camera and are .MOV format? I tried transcoding to DNxHD and ended up with a larger vdio still in .MOV format so have assumed the original format to be OK. Help greatly appreciated. Adrian |

Ok I have sorted what I was doing wrong with this, my default views did not show the properties box, so I could never get to change the speed, i.e. the 100% to anything else.
I do note I do not have the Stroboscope effects, so not sure if that depends on type of clip or not, but for now I am happy it took several hours of reading and watching Youtube before I realised why. Adrian |
