How to extend videoclip duration

Mon Mar 26, 2018 3:21 pm
Hi guys,

i have a videoclip in mp4 format that is 10 seconds long and i'd like to extend it in loop for 2 minutes and adding others elements.
If i try to clic and extend the mp4 from left to right it doesn't go over 10 seconds.
When i try to do the same with a PNG image i don't have this problem and i can extend it as long as i want.

Anybody knows how to do?
Thanks in advance :)

There is no automatic looping. So, you cannot extend a video clip over its actual length. As you know, this is possible for a static picture (which has no length by nature).

Place the clip in the timeline repeatedly. If you want to apply effects to the loop, you may want to concatenate the clip as often as you need with ffmpeg on command line (see: https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Concatenate)

Hi "ivanoc",

I was trying to find an option to loop or repeat or extend or stretch a smaller video to match the length of 3 songs in an audio timeline.

What I ended up doing was right-clicking the video clip in the project manager selecting clip properties and changing its duration to match the duration of the 3 songs in the audio track, and that worked except it only shows the last frame of the video after playing its regular length.

I sure would love to have an option for looping the video continuously or repeating a video for "n" number of times, or loop to match the highlighted audio timeline or another video's timeline.

Regards,
Phil
