Check if all 5 path settings under MLT environment point to the actual Kdenlive version path. Settings -> Kdenlive settings (or ctrl + shift+ ,)-> Environment -> MLT environment.

The path looks OK. Do you download the correct AppImage for Ubuntu 18.04? If yes it could be a conflict with the Ubuntu installed MLT version and the MLT version Kdenlive needed it. But I run Kdenlive just in a virtual Box on Windows7 with Lubuntu so I cannot really help.

I used the version kdenlive-18.04.1-x86_64.AppImage
A conflict in .AppImage ? I though that it was impossible... An AppImage : It's not the application with all of his dependencys ? I'm lost... But I realy need to use the speed effect ! |

Hello,
Unfortunately the speed effect has always been buggy; the situation should much improve with the next version to be released this summer (18.08). In the meantime, as a workaround, you can try to change the speed of your clip using FFmpeg (or melt in standalone, or any other tool), and then import the result in your project. Sorry for the inconvenience! |

Thank you !
After a lot of research, I realized that the videos I wanted to accelerate were all from video capture screens (for tutorials). Looking better at my settings, I saw that they were all at 15fps. So I tried to make videos at 25fps and that solved my problem. KDEnLive can speed up videos at 25fps, not 15! It's good to know if it can help someone! |

Any progress on this?
In 18.12.1b on March 15, 2019 this functionality is still broken. Not being able to change speed is a huge deal for me. There seem to be a lot of regression bugs creeping in destroying functionality, since this used to work for me before. |

This bug concerns this and is still open. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=392670
Anybody interested in this bug getting fixed might want to weigh in and report that they are also affected by the bug. |

Speed changing has been rewritten in the new upcoming version 19.04. More details about this release will come soon on the website.
