First post here. I have been trying to get the rotoscope fuction to work on:

kdenlive-18.04.1-x86_64.AppImage
kdenlive Version 18.04.1

Using various tutorials and posts here, two being:

https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=270&t=138555&p=371965&hilit=rotoscope#p371965

The proscribed process looks to be:

To all users experiencing problem with rotoscoping, here are the basic steps to add rotoscoping in kdenlive, starting from an empty project.

Add the clip you want to rotoscope in the timeline
Add the clip you want to see in transparency below the clip you just inserted. You can use a color clip for testing
Add the "Affine" transition between both clips. Make sure it has the same duration as the clips
Add the rotoscoping effect to the topmost clip
Click on the monitor. A red square will appear. ( Fail, left or right button clicking on the monitor window starts the video playing ).......

I've tried to modify this approach lots of different ways, unsuccessfully.

Is there something I am missing here?

Thanks

Maybe you discovered the problem yet. Anyway, I asked about the same thing. The fact is that you must have enabled "Show/Hide edit mode" button. That's all. It's not a bug ^-^

Sorry to be so basic. And just where can the "Show/Hide edit mode" button to be found?

Don't worry, was my fault!!! Is just below the monitor, between the "Volume" and the actual playing time. Is not too much intuitive, that's the problem >:D

Solved

OMG, found it. Totally not intuitive. Now that you showed me where and what it is, it'll be easy to work.

Many thanks
