Good Day,

I have been a KDE user for a long time, but I am a complete newbie using KDEnlive, so please be patient with me.

My purpose is to produce a videoclip, using a slideshow composed by a series of pngs with a transparent circle cropped in the middle, overlayed to a movie clip.

The problem I'm facing is that, despite all pngs have the same cropped central area, the video "jumps" to black every time. So instead of a continuous clip in the middle, surrounded by a changing frame, I end up having a changing frame with a black circle, then the clip, repeating over and over.

I tryed to pursue also a different approach, with affine, but the "transparency" of the pngs only works if the tracks are on top of each other. I had to discard this method too.

Is there anyone who can help me undersand what is the proper way to do this?
Thank you in advance

Put the continuous video on video track 1 and the slides on video track 2. Now add the transition “Composite and transform”. Choose composition: “Alpha blend”. Make opacity to 100%. Pull it all over the length of the video.

Now you have 2 possibilities. Either you have the slides as PNG with an alpha layer with the hole in it or you have the PNG without alpha channel and you make the hole via the effect “Alpha shapes”.

Settings for the hole in “Alpha shapes”:
- choose: “Ellipse”
- size x: 100
- size y: 150

Then you can play with all other settings. Use the slider bar with the mouse for quick checkout.
