You have to drag/drop the title into the timeline. Then you see the title in the project monitor.

hi and thanks for the reply.
I did: http://aelixihr.000webhostapp.com/20181119kdenlive.png If i click the middle tab "Project Monitor" it turns black. The end still behaves the same way. I made more in the past and am unaware of doing anything differently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VthgcnKvtc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rb5lMLQ0omQ |

According the screenshot the play-head is just on the beginning. There is no video. So the project monitor is black. Move the play-head to/over the title-clip and it should show up. Do you have the record monitor on? Maybe something which disturb the project monitor?

no, it is not, as one can see in the clip monitor(which is toggled) There is video showing white text on a black background. i do not understand your question; the record monitor is not toggled. |

I can reproduce it. It’s a kind of a bug. Open the title clip. Click on Background. Make it 255 Black. Then enable/disable on the bottom in the middle “Show Background”. In some cases you see nothing on the project monitor but in the clip monitor.

Here is a similar issue with Debian: viewtopic.php?f=265&t=155982

...okay, so this is yet another bug.
That is a shame. I remade the title clip and it shows while playing in the project monitor window. But it unfortunately does not render. The end clip works. Decided to let it be... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZleNs5bVJY |

Just a guess: Do you have the same issue when you set the “track compositing” (above timeline, far left) to “High Quality”?

Interesting. You use an “old” Kdenlive version. Must be before 15.12.0 because you have the „effect stack“.
I assume you made a Linux update recently and now MLT or FFMPEG doesn’t work properly with Kdenlive anymore. What you can try is the following: Download the actual AppImage 18.08.3 and make it executable. Start a new project and try with the title clip again. But be careful with using your existing Kdenlive project file it might be that you, ones loaded into version 18.08.3 you cannot open in your “old” Kdenlive version anymore. Details see here: https://kdenlive.org/en/project/kdenlive-projects/ |

thank you, it does not seem the case:
~$ sudo apt-get install kdenlive Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done kdenlive is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 329 not upgraded. (fwiw i am on KXstudio with a preinstalled Kdenlive; Platform Version 4.13.3) |

it works with the text still as a picture instead of text.
But now the session will not load anymore because of a duration mismatch i check "fix duration mismatch", the thing gets a V, i check "ok", project file modified backup blabla, i check "ok" again, loading project 50% |
