Hi. I have a simple question regarding effects in Kdenlive.
Is it possible to select a portion of the video clip you are editing and apply an effect to only that portion? Say, you draw a box around a portion of the clip, and apply the blur effect to modify only that selection. Is there some means to do this?

Another related question:
If it is possible to do this, can you also bleed the effect into the non-selected region, to make the effect seem less jarring.

The picture shows an example of the same principal in an image-editing program. I'm sorry if this has been answered on these forums before.

Hi !
I have 2 solutions for you :
- use 2 layers, twice the same clip and on the top one use rotoscoping or alpha shapes to create your box and add some blur
- use the region option : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysMTH1_hI6w

Thanks Arkengheist for your answer. That certainly helped. But now I am still wondering how to soften the hard edges of the chosen region where the effect has been applied so it bleeds into the original footage more seamlessly. Does anyone know how this can be achieved?

How did you do this ? if it's with region you need to have a gradient from opaque to transparent. If it's the other method you can change the transition width with alpha shapes or the feathering with rotoscoping
