My apologies for what I assume is a very, very basic query - I'm new to Kdenlive and to video editing software in general (the little practice I've had is in Shotcut).

So I'm trying to take a moving object on a video and either follow it by cropping out the rest of the video, or zoom on it - but that effect needs to move with it. For a rudimentary example, see https://youtu.be/9buzfp0_iAA?t=117

If someone could name what effect is going on there and explain how I go about it (use small words, I'm very new), that would be wonderful.

In my attempts to work this out myself, I came across the suggestion to first track the movement with Auto Mask (OK, that works) and then pull that movement out via a transition: this is where I get lost.

To make a Transition, In instructions I've seen, apparently you should overlap two video tracks and right-click along the edge to create a transition between the two. That is not an option I have available in the right-click dropdown menu... what am I missing here? I'm sure it's something obvious.

the exported keyframes from Auto-mask can't be used to "stabilize" an object on screen.... because there is no way to import that keyframes (in all transitions/effects we have) with inverted x-y coords (to center an object)..

you can just add some keyframes manually (the fluid transitions between keyframes is automatic) to "position and zoom" effect...
