Dear friends,
After years of using Premiere Pro and trying out Davinci Resolve for a few months on Windows, I'm a recent convert to the world of Linux. I've fallen head over heels with Open Source world and I'm now using Linux 100% of the time for work and personal use. It has been a revelation in terms of stability this system offers and not to mention the amazing applications, including Kdenlive. I've recently edited a 10min creative video on Kdenlive 19.12.1 and suffice to say, for my workflow it meets all of my needs and I'm not left wanting for anything extra. In fact, I love the simplicity and the very comprehensive set of tools for 'prosumer' users like me. There is just one nagging issue I'm unable to resolve and it seems to persist even with the latest release 19.12.2. Problem: I've come to rely heavily on the Rotoscoping effect for animating titles and for various creative effects. It works great without GPU Processing enabled but when enabled, while it allows me to set points and such, the effect itself seems to make no difference. All other GPU effects work perfectly except for Rotoscoping. The performance improvements on my system with GPU enabled is massive and a deal-breaker if having to switch it off for this favourite effect. I've sifted through all possible solutions on the internet to no avail, such as: Solutions that haven't worked so far:
Any help or suggestions to get Rotoscoping working with GPU will be tremendously appreciated!! Many thanks in advance. -KC |

The GPU rendering was removed from Kdenlive (for stability issues).. quoting Merlimau:
