First of all, I would like to thank the developers for the magnificent work they have done on Kdenlive 20.12, which I have just installed. The transitions on the same track are very comfortable and the subtitle editor is much less primitive than the developers say!
I'm writing because I think it would be useful to be able to apply effects to the transition alone. Currently, if I select a transition, it is not possible to apply a effect, it is applied to the whole clip. Of course it is possible to achieve the same result by separating the transition region from the rest of the clip, but I think it would be much more elegant and it would simplify the workflow to be able to apply an effect to the transition as if it were a clip. Thank you! |

Partly that is already possible. I have done it more then once.
How? Many effects you can be set at timing. So you could start an effect there were you start your transition. For the effects lacking timing you could simply cut at the spot were you want to start the transition (with effect) so both will only go on that choosen cut part. I've never been inhibited (yet) in applying something like that |

Yeah i don't reallu understan how (and why) you want to apply effects to a transition, they are not clips, they are almost effect themselves, you can't apply an effect to an effect

Mmmm ... i do no different. All the time. Effects over effects. How about for instance a fade out with rotation over it? Or fade out with 'fading/zooming out tot the deep' over it? And many more nice options with putting an effect over an effect. |

you don't apply to the effect to the other effect, you apply it to a clip, which already has an effect. If you remove the clip, both effects disappear. If you remove the first effect, the second one is still here.

Still you apply an effect OVER an effect (which is already on a clip).
The second effect will be done over the clip WITH the first effect. For instance a 'color' effect wil do nothing with colors if that clip already has the black&white effect on it. The second effect will not go only over the clip. So stating 'effect over effect' is not wrong. Furthermore i have no need for discussions about textual interpretations. I think we both know what we both say. |
