Hi everyone,
I have seen several tutorials and my screen is NOT showing what it appears automatically in EVERY tutorial. I tried and I don't get it. When someone drags and drops the blur effect into a track, it is supposed to show this rectangle which can be changed in size and position. My blur efect does not show that. Besides, it is also supposed to show a properties tab for the blur effect, but I can only see properties of the TRACK, not the EFFECT. I understand there are several different types of Blur effects, but I only have ONE. I don't understand how to access the others. I don't get how to attach a screenshot here so I'm gonna just provide a link. Please download it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/qn9wmqxwvqz54 ... t.jpg?dl=0 many thanks in advance. Regards, Cecilia |

Effects are grouped into several tabs: Main Effects (the list symbol), Video Effects (the film icon), Audio Effects (the speaker icon), Custom Effects and Favorite Items. If you look or search only in the Main Effects you will not find all the effects. Click on the Video Effects tab (the film icon) to see all of them.
The red box in the Auto Mask effect is there because it is used to blur/hide only a specific portion of the screen/clip and follow the object to be blurred/hidden. The other blur effects always apply to the entire clip hence no need for a box that can be adjusted in size. If you want to blur only parts of a screen or clip, you need to use Alpha Shapes or rotoscoping and overlay clips. Llook at this tutorial from Arkengheist (https://www.reddit.com/r/kdenlive/comments/ligueq/kdenlive_tutorial_glass_panel_effect/. There are more on her YouTube channel. When working with clips and effects make sure you have the Editing view enabled (top right hand corner, select Editing). Clip properties are only displayed for a clip you selected in the Project Bin. Select the clip in the timeline and you should see the effects applied to the clip in the middle of the monitor in the Effect/Composition Stack. Hope this helps

the effect that is necessary to use for this is the "OBSCURE" ... please relefer to the "EFFECT/COMPOSITION STACK" tab to edit all the settings of applyed effects... on latest version of kdenlive this "stack" is placed on the same "space" of the VU-METER (bottom right) .. better to look at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfDuj_6yf_0 |

I like the video (thanks for the link) and the new effect "Obscure" but if I understood the OP correctly it is about blurring. Obscure does pixelization only (unfortunately the amount or size of the pixels cannot be changed).

yep, this is a know issue. you can find a "smart" blur effect on the "MOTION TRACKER" .. select a zone and the effect track it with blurring (if you increase the blur value). |
